HALE BREWING: MEET THE BEER

We’re changing up the format of Meet the Brewer events at our bars. We feel that the format is a little tired and has run it’s course for us at six°north. So we’ve decided to freshen things up...

…Going forward we will host Meet the Beer events where our guest brewers will present three quick-fire tastings on the night! Each tasting will start with a question and the brewery will answer with one of their beers! We want an approach which encourages customer interaction, giving more of an insight into breweries and the stories behind their beers. Tastings will be free of charge and will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
Meet the Beer. The answer to the question is always beer!

NORTH BREWING PERMANENT TAP

We have recently introduced permanent guest brewery taps across our five bars for the very first time. These taps will be dedicated to some superb UK breweries who each produce outstanding beer.

Our first permanent tap launches on 1st March and will be dedicated to Leeds’ North Brewing. North have gone from strength to strength in the past few years, consistently releasing some of the most delicious pale ales in the country. We brewed two collaborations with North in 2018 and we’re delighted to continue working with them into 2019 and beyond.

Genesis Project

on 21st July six°north’s Genesis Project will be released in our bars in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Stonehaven & Glasgow. GP is an opportunity for our brewery & bars to collaborate together. It allows our staff to learn more about the brewing process whilst showcasing their creativity! Each bar came to brew their own beer back in May. We placed no limits on what they could brew & encouraged them to be as imaginative as possible.

Six°North Win Brewing Award At Scottish Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2018

We’re delighted to have won the brewing award at the Scottish Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2018. We entered our ‘Heather’ collab that we brewed last year with Beerbliotek as part of our Foraged & Found series. We received some brilliant feedback from the judges for our entry and we’re very proud to received this accolade.

We will be brewing Heather again in the coming months.

Jim from Simply Hops was at the brewery today to brew a collab together! We made a modern Belgian Blonde with plenty of hops! Specifically: Galaxy, Relax, Monroe & Fantasia. The beer is due for release in August.

New release: OMNIUM - Session IPA [out now]

OMNIUM is our new 4.3% session IPA, and the first in the new triumvirate of beers. It could not be further removed from the classic styles our customers have come to expect, but it follows neatly in their footsteps, and is just as expertly designed & produced. Omnium has a light malt backbone with a generous helping of dry hopped Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo and Simcoe, which makes for some very pleasant drinking!

Super pleased to have Jürgen from Amundsen Brewery here today for a collab! We’re brewing a dry hopped Sour. This will be our biggest dry hop addition to date with a massive 20g per litre making this one hoppy, sour beer! We hopped w/ Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic. 

The beer is part of a big project due for release in the Summer...keep 'em peeled for more info!

We have Jérôme from Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes (BFM) with us for a collab today! We’re brewing a Kettle Sour w/ foraged Swiss Hysope, Green Anise and lemon peel 🍋 

BFM is an artisanal brewery in Saignelégier, Switzerland who are well known for producing outstanding barrel aged beers and sours. 

This beer will form part of the Foraged & found range and is due for release in September.

six°north x Burnt Mill

We had Charles & Sophie with us today from Burnt Mill for a collab. We brewed a saison using locally foraged spruce tips that we steeped in the brewing water overnight to then mash with Pils, Vienna and wheat malts. 

The resulting wort was whirlpooled with Relax hops and is now fermenting with our house saison yeast strain. 

The beer will be released as part of our Foraged and Found series in August.

We’re delighted to have Mark from Burning Sky with us today to brew a collab! A brewery we have a great admiration for. We’re brewing a mixed fermentation Saison with 28kg of sea buckthorn that we recently foraged near the brewery.
